The Future of “Waste”; The Next Trillion Dollar Industry?

The world has a waste problem.  By 2050 global waste production is expected to escalate from 2 billion tons per year to an astronomical 3.4 billions tons per year, outpacing population growth by more than double.  Despite our best efforts to recycle, the vast majority of organic waste ends up in some form of a landfill.  

Tipping fees, the costs municipalities and organizations pay to have their waste removed, are increasing.  These founders have developed technologies in a new industry – waste as an input.  

They are closing the loop on the circular economy by recovering value from waste.  

690 million people were undernourished last year, the most since 2009, and the pandemic could tip as many as 132 million people into chronic hunger by the end of this year, according to a UN report.
