Sustainable Fashion – Leaders and Technologies at the Forefront of Making the Industry Clean and Green

Fashion contributes significantly to climate change. McKinsey research shows that the sector was responsible for 4 percent of the global total of GHGs (GreenhouseGas emissions).  This does not include the chemical pollutants in water systems that affect the health of those who rely on them.  The growth in cultural demand for fashion is environmentally punishing, $300B of it, every year making fashion one of the biggest industries on the planet – employing 1 out of 6 humans – yet hasn’t significantly changed supply chain and operations in decades. Suddenly our current crisis is shining light through the cracks in this system and illuminating some radical opportunities to change how over 80 billion garments are made each year, and create a shift to a more equitable, sustainable, and responsible system.

In order to meet the 2015 Paris Climate agreement, fashion would need to cut its GHG emissions to 1.1 billion metric tons of CO2 equivalent by 2030.

How is the Fashion industry going to do this? Learn from companies at the forefront of sustainable fashion that are already a part of the solution.
